The parade of city and county people

and cars painted with Chrome

Grant exhaust pipes age joy

Street – mile-long parade.

Testimony of America

History, 55 Chevy Station Wagon

red lights again

as a nose spray.

Sculpted Shelby Cobra

a Hollywood vehicle coveted

among the Rolling Thunder

patrolled by local police

in his late model continued rapid

Vehicles, other air intakes.

The girls think of guys

benches, despite

Ford Mustang ($ 20,000 value)

has buckets – thigh thigh peak

its own against the gearshift.

A race to the piston melodic sounds

clouds of exhaust after dark

sunset, the crowd standing, sitting,

gawk appeal and industry

promises and freedom that

Auto brings. Sex, steel, paint

is a hot combination in a junio

night, the excitement of the county.

The mating calls of drag-and-blow,

attitudes in adolescence and adult

moments with some families online

Summertime Summertime stars, a

Car Parade color song

brought out to show and bluster.

A cultural dance on wheels

Familiar favorites and polished;

even the Chevrolet 409

mounted around the search

Woody Wagon or something elegant.

We have met the 21st century

and is always with us, again, in a parade.

This poem from 2000 recently published in the Academy of American Poets writers workshop received few comments, I am sorry to say. But I love the work, and here it is from their original near eight years, when the parade car was in Novato, California (Marin County), north of San Francisco.

This note to another poet, was published in the workshop of the writer for me:

I had the idea that not everyone knows parades of cars. This took place in Novato, California (about 45,000), and there are people who fix and older cars. They are awesome! Many people lined the streets to This popular event is a just city.

Novato in Marin County, north of San Francisco for about 30 miles or more. I think we hold the annual parade. I went to the caravan, and I was impressed by it and remember that there is no such thing in America that the "car culture". Thus the poem.

Notes on photo: The Rev. Richard Helmer, rector of the Church of Our Savior in Mill Valley, California, USA took the photograph and gave permission to use it on my blog. The blog is primarily spiritual and religious poetry, and although the poem published and Chrome steel in the parade today, I thought that Father Richard snapshot is a good option because it shows the flowers and chromium. Readers of this blog have noted that most photographs accompanying poetry shows a flower or flowers.

So, here is another picture of flowers, the instantaneous location unknown.
