Esmeralda

As with most gemstones the emerald can be created as a result of volcanic activity, where pressure and heat creates the gemstones. Another process known as hydrothermal circulation, which in the broadest sense is the circulation of water Hot containing dissolved minerals passing through the pockets in the underlying bedrock, evaporate causing the stones to cool as large crystals.

Emeralds belong to the family of the gem Beryl. This family also contains aquamarine, goshenite, Morganite, Heliodorus, quartz, beryl and ruby red to name a few. The emerald has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 and is composed of chromium and vanadium. When the iron sulphate, pyrite is entered into the mix, the result is the intense green color traditionally associated with emerald.
