Tail Light Bicycle
My own wild adventures are subjecting Chimborazo in Ecuador (20,600 feet in the last 4000 meters above glaciers), getting lost in the mountains Colorado, and days of kayaking the nearest road in Canada, six meters from the waves of Lake Superior. Perhaps I had more of these trips, if I more money years ago. And, of course, time can be a problem when one wants to have some adventure.
The good news is that some wild adventures are not expensive or in remote locations. There are a lot of fun and excitement around the house, if you look.
My Dirtbagging Adventure
What dirtbagging? It is simply camping or back extraction of its components essential. You throw things at any age or packaging bag and leave. Forget extensive planning or sophisticated equipment. Leave behind the clothes Additional sleeping in a pile of leaves or beside a fire, and using his common sense instead of your wallet for a change.
By example, my own journey dirtbagging began with a bus trip around Traverse City, Michigan (where I lived at the time) until end of the line. I pressed the rubber tube in front of me on the bus and the driver looks at it and in my small backpack with a smile. I got off the bus in a wooded area and then walked another mile and a half to reach the Boardman River, where the road crosses.
I had a plastic bag of homemade camp, a small umbrella, some snacks and a couple of things to heat the bed instead of using a sleeping bag. I kept everything in one package my lap as I floated down the river sitting in the air, my ass and feet in water all the time. I turned in my hands if necessary.
At dusk, trout emerged everywhere. I've seen deer jump back to the river as it floated past. Prehistoric-looking blue herons hunt fish along the banks. I enjoy wild strawberries and other wild plants whenever I took a break. I do not need much in line, rather than simply going with the flow of the river, relax and even close their eyes for several minutes during steps calmer. But the trip was still the element of uncertainty, and thus the adventure.
The first event was unpredictable rain. It all started when setting up camp, and continued during the next twelve hours. Just stayed dry in my garbage bag bivy sack covering the head with my little umbrella. The event was unpredictable after a white great-tailed Deer that I almost left in the dark. Inhalation scared me half to death. The next morning, still raining.
It was a storm, in fact, and I could have hoped, but unlike a tent, a plastic bag Bivy not enough room to do something. I decided it was time to go home, so I pack my things, got into the cold river, and climbed into the tube. The storm grew worse.
Soon I crossed the wild side River, and began to drift into beautiful homes that sat along the banks. I was in my tube, wearing a thick sweater, the coordination overhead, trying to stay warm and dry. He woke up late because of the storm, and I saw people drinking their morning coffee through the kitchen windows on. Occasionally, some looked up from his breakfast and saw a flash of lightning. I welcomed and waved.
Not wanting to put my hands in ice water, quickly learned to steer through the rapids using only your feet, as shovels. I portage around a dam, through mud knee that almost took one of my shoes. Finally, shortly before noon, I climbed the bank near the house. I was walking down the street under the rain with my umbrella, my backpack, and my rubber tube, hoping the neighbors were sleeping.
Other Wild Adventures
My friends and I to go to a great river of time, park your car and walk downstream for an hour or more. Here are a series of dead trees and float to the car, which sometimes requires the fall and pursuing a raft. These trips are called "Tom Sawyer Day" I even made a trip where I took my bike twenty miles of the river in a makeshift raft through the Manistee National Forest.
Other ideas? Get a book on wild food and survival for a stroll in the woods near you. Plan your career adventure with friends. Sits on a bike, start peddling, and see where ends the next day (bring food and water, or take a road which has stores). If you use your imagination you can still find wild adventures that do not travel far or spend much money.
