Any Derri-Air bicycle seat owners?
Hi,
I am looking at getting a larger, more comfy bike seat. I’ve discovered Derri-Air (derri-air.com) that has bike seats as wide as 12 inches. Are owners of these seats happy?

Larger is not really “more comfortable” if you ride more than around the block I am sorry to say. It is in the dynamics of riding. wide seats chafe you in places you would REALLY rather not be chafed! Believe me, I KNOW! In all honesty, in all my years of cycling (I started in 1959!) the Brooks saddles are the BEST if you ride a standard “diamond frame” or upright bike (I have THREE of them and a Selle Italia too) I am assuming you are female, The Brooks B-66 is a winner. I have one and it is very nice (I am a guy and it is a nice saddle for me too!) They take a little while to break in, (I use Proofhide and sparing application of Neats Foot Oil on the under side to help it along) like a good pair of high quality shoes does, but it really DOES help and after a while the saddle really feels very good! But it doesn’t seem reasonable if you just thump one in the store, they seem ROCK hard!
OR for the ultimate in comfort the very best bet is a recumbent.TRIKE! the WHOLE POINT about recumbents is comfort! On a Trike you can go as slow as you like without falling over, the seat is like riding in a lawn chair, you don’t have to rest your weight on your hands so your elbows and wrists don’t hurt. I have ridden 70-80 miles in one day on a Trike and NO BUTT PAIN! I even sit around camp at night on my trike while my cycling friends are whining about the ” butt hatchet” on their bikes!
That being said, I still ride an upright bike some and I always have my Brooks saddle on it!
